Kansas Sporting Clays Association
August 2008 Newsletter
Dear KSCA Members,
With the 2008 Kansas Sporting Clays State Championship behind us, I’d like to take a quick moment to introduce myself and outline what I’d like to accomplish this year as your Publicity Director.
First off, a little about myself… my name is Jason Purinton. I started shooting shotgun sports in January of 2006. I have been shooting registered sporting clays since July of 2006. By all accounts, I’m still a rookie. I was introduced to shotgun shooting when a client of mine asked me to go quail hunting with him and some friends. After accepting the invite, I immediately called a good buddy of mine and asked him "what the heck is quail hunting?!?" After getting outfitted with a shotgun and some shells, I shot my first bird! Shortly thereafter I joined Powder Creek, hired a shooting coach and have been addicted ever since. In case you can’t put a face with the name….

I’m honored to be your Publicity Director this year. I guess it wasn’t really a surprise that I’d get the nod last month because I couldn’t find anyone else to run for the position! HA! There are three things I’d like to accomplish this year:
First off, I am in the process of calling every club owner in the association to quickly introduce myself and get some thoughts and ideas down. I am about half way through the list of clubs. If I haven’t talked to you yet, either return my phone call or be patient! HA! Once I’m done with the club owners, I’d like to start talking with my fellow shooters. Currently, I have a list of 475 shooters in the state of Kansas. Logistically, it wouldn’t be possible to make every call and have a discussion with everyone. My contact info is on the website. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I’m usually very prompt at returning any calls I miss.
Second, it is my intent to re-instate the KSCA newsletter. I checked the website to get an idea of what I should use as a format and we only have one and it’s from back in 2004. My intent is to use a pretty fun and laid back posture to the newsletters going forward. I’d like to cover what’s going on in the state, news from around the clubs and I’d like to profile a club and a shooter in each issue.
Last, I’d like to be a conduit of information for the use of our members, the club owners and the board of directors of the association. I’d appreciate it if everyone would confide in me their concerns, suggestions or ideas to help make shooting in Kansas as successful as possible. I already have several great ideas and will be sharing them with you in the coming newsletters.
Sincerely,
Jason C. Purinton
